How to allocate role permissions in V4 Enterprise Commander
V4 of Enterprise Commander introduces role permissions where administrators can provide users selective access to the system. These roles are an addition to the existing admin, user and connector updater roles. If your server is upgraded to V4, the new roles will not be allocated to your administrative user. The below steps will guide you through adding the new role permissions to a user and the AD group configured for access to Enterprise Commander.
You will need to have access to an administrative account make the below changes. If you do not have access to an administrative account please contact your Enterprise Commander administrator
Step-by-step guide
Managing Role Permissions for a user.
- Log into Enterprise Commander with your administrator account.
- Once logged in make sure you have the Admin application menu like below (if not, please contact your Enterprise Commander Administrator)
- Click on "Admin" and choose Dossier users to view all the Dossier users.
- Click on the appropriate user or if there are a lot of users, you can use the "filter" to search of the relevant user.
- In the user's page click on the edit icon as highlighted below.
- In the edit page chose the any or all of the available roles and click the right chevron to add it to the user. Once done click the "Save changes" button.
- You will need to log out and log back in to see the new Application menus.
Managing Role Permissions for a authorised AD group.
- Log into Enterprise Commander with your administrator account.
- Once logged in make sure you have the Admin application menu like below (if not, please contact your Enterprise Commander Administrator)
- Click on "Admin" and choose "Authentication"
- In the "Authentication" page, choose the AD group that you would like to edit.
- Choose the required role permissions and click on the right chevron to add it to all the users of that group. Once done click "Save Changes" button.
- If any users from that group are logged in, they will need to log out and log back in to see the changes made.
