We now have a requirement for the 64-bit version of Java to be installed. Version 1.3.8 checks for 64-bit Java.
Background
The location of the Enterprise commander code and data has been moved in 1.3.8, to accommodate new requirements (moving files off C drive).
In previous versions the Enterprise Commander code and data was located in C:\Users\Administrator.
In v1.3.8 the code and data has been moved to the installation directory of Manager, which is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Event Zero\Enterprise Commander Manager.
There are two important things to be aware of when upgrading to 1.3.8.
- The Manager tool will attempt to automatically move the old location to the new location when it starts. The Event Zero Enterprise Commander service must be stopped (via services menu or the Manager application) for this to work.
- After Installing the latest Enterprise Commander Manager you must reinstall the latest Enterprise Commander build even if this was already installed..
Upgrade
Follow the below steps to upgrade the Enterprise Manager Application:
- Download Enterprise Commander Manager 1.3.8 installer from the EventZero website: https://www.eventzero.com/Download/.
- Stop Event Zero Enterprise Commander service (via Services or Manager).
- Upgrade Enterprise Commander Manager by running the downloaded MSI.
- Open Enterprise Commander Manager.
- If database settings are missing, the location move has not worked. You can do it manually:
- Close Manager
- Stop Event Zero Enterprise Commander service if it is running (check Task Manager for java processes also)
- Copy C:\Users\Administrator\commander to new install location (eg C:\Program Files (x86)\Event Zero\Enterprise Commander Manager). Commander directory may already exist in new location, overwrite it.
- Rename old location commander directory to something else
- Start Manager, should see database settings now.
- If database settings are missing, the location move has not worked. You can do it manually:
- Upgrade Enterprise Commander software using Manual Upgrade in Manager, this will re-install the service pointing to the new file location. (See: Upgrading UC Commander on Windows Server)
- Wait for service to start.
You may have issues with the service starting at this stage if the server is running 32-bit Java. In which case please uninstall java and install the 64 bit version of Java 8 on the server and try again.
