One of the easiest things to develop for the Enterprise Commander platform is a report. Enterprise Commander uses the popular and flexible Eclipse BIRT reporting system. This comes with an Eclipse based IDE and extensive documentation and examples. You should familiarise yourself with BIRT before attempting to write a report for Enterprise Commander.

Reports are installed into Enterprise Commander as part of a Plugin. You should be familiar with the development of a Plugin as described in Plugins.

Prerequisites

In order to develop a BIRT report for Enterprise Commander you need to have:

  • a working knowledge of BIRT
  • Eclipse with both Pugin Development and BIRT installed
  • an instance of Enterprise Commander
  • No labels
